Lieutenant Colonel (U) Awang Muhammad Amiruddin bin Haji Awang Tuah started his career with the Royal Brunei Armed Forces in September 1998, and was commissioned as Lieutenant one year later after graduating his Initial Officer Training at the Royal Air Force College in Cranwell, United Kingdom.
Prior to his current post as Head of Command and Staff College, Defence Academy Royal Brunei Armed Forces, he had held various command and staff appointments, which include Commanding Officer No. 1 Wing, Squadron Commander No. 12 Squadron, Staff Officer Grade 2 Operation and Planning, Royal Brunei Air Force, Head of Leadership and Management Centre, Defence Academy Royal Brunei Armed Forces, as well as Staff Officer Grade 1 Air, Directorate of Force Capability Development, Ministry of Defence. During the earlier phase of his career, he was trained at No. 3 Squadron/Flying Training School and became an operational pilot with Bolkow Squadron for 11 years. Additionally, he had the opportunity to serve a one-year operational tour as a member of International Monitoring Team in Mindanao, Philippines.
Among the military and professional courses that he attended were Junior Staff Course, Advanced Air Power Course, 3rd Command and Staff Course, Command and Staff Operations Law Course, and 13th Executive Development Programme for Senior Government Officials. He also obtained his Master of International Security from Massey University, New Zealand and Bachelor of Arts in Public Policy and Administration from Universiti Brunei Darussalam.
Lieutenant Colonel (U) Awang Muhammad Amiruddin has been honoured with Pingat Indah Kerja Baik (PIKB), Pingat Jasa Kebaktian (PJK), Pingat Kerja Lama Perangai Baik (PKLPB) and Darjah Setia Negara Brunei Yang Amat Bahagia Darjah Keempat (PSB). He is married to Dr. Sarena binti Haji Hashim and is blessed with four children. During his free time, he enjoys reading, jogging and travelling.
